15 Years On...

26 May 2006 • Today in History! Today marks the 15th year since I was called to the Malaysian Bar. When I first started out as a junior lawyer, I could not imagine my legal career to last beyond 10 years. Who would have guessed I actually crossed beyond that mark? Only by God’s grace!!

Looking back, I am fully contented to be where I am today, which would not have been possible without my parents. They had been amazingly supportive throughout my career which started out incredibly stressful and exhausting. Thankfully those are now behind me – the formative years (including the highs and lows in between all these 15 years) were definitely not easy, yet necessary to last the journey.

Thank you, mom and dad, for putting up with my nonsense especially on my bad days. At the crossroads of my career, thank you for not giving up on me and wanting only the best for my well-being. Your words, dad, mean so much to me, even to this day.

Wishing you both could share my better days, but I know heaven is a better (in fact, the perfect) place. Till we meet again, I love you both and miss you much!!

p/s: As though God’s way of "celebrating" my 15th anniversary in my legal career, I had a team meeting in Cantonese this morning... pure HK Canto!! Apart from being a Cantonese, the dialect is close to my heart as I conversed fully in Canto with my late parents. God knows exactly how to cheer me on! It warms my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it – it’s the best meeting I’ve had thus far – more to come!
